A truly community wedding.
Meet my incredible couple, Jack and Linda, two people who have grown to be so special to me as both clients and friends. Their wedding was a direct reflection of their style, values, and combined personalities. Each detail was meticulously thought out and in support of their favorite local artists and small-businesses. I am still so proud to have been the one to photograph this epic day orchestrated by some seriously talented folks (who are all listed at the bottom of this post).
The Rehearsal Dinner
To kick-off their wedding weekend, they were gifted an incredible rehearsal dinner at The Crescent Club located on the 17th floor of Uptown Dallas's The Crescent. The dining room presented an inclusive view of the Dallas skyline through massive windows. The interior married the romantic aesthetics of wood detailing, classic oil paintings, and an utterly stunning full bar. Many guests traveled far distances to attend the wedding, making this luxurious dining experience even more enjoyable for all. The menu was a foodie's paradise with several beautiful courses including fresh deserts and coffee service served by a delightful staff. This rehearsal dinner was utterly magic to shoot both digital and 35mm film images of.
The perfect Oak Cliff Wedding.
It doesn't get much more local than getting married at your church, hosting an afternoon reception at a historic home in your neighborhood and then bringing all your best friends to your favorite bar just a flew blocks away. Jack and Linda were the very first people I met when I moved to Oak Cliff (our consultation was literally 3 days after I moved in!). As fate would have it, we found out over our first meeting at Wayward Coffee that we are actually neighbors. Not only was their wedding walking distance from my apartment, but now I had a trusted cat sitter. Ultimate score!
Everything about shooting for Jack and Linda felt like divine intervention. They are truly the kind of people who make you feel like family the moment you meet them, and then they prove over and over again how far their love extends. They are both lovers of art and niche details like the custom-made sword Jack presented Linda as a wedding gift. The sword was then used to pop a bottle of champagne to cap off their reception. Their after-party felt like a night in Miami, complete with themed guest outfits, griddle service hotdogs and hamburgers, custom cocktails, and an all-vinyl DJ. The entire day was fueled by a deep commitment to their own little bit, which is just them being fabulous and unique.
The day started with a chill getting ready session, followed by a classic church ceremony and an airy reception at Turner House. The reception greeted guests with a massive charcuterie board, an array of desserts, and flutes of champagne. Before entering, we took a moment to capture film and direct flash images of the couple on the terrace and inside the vintage tub upstairs. Among the sounds of a live pianist, the couple made their entrance down the grand staircase and shared their first dance. The joy in the room was palpable. The most thoughtful of speeches brought me to tears.
Thank you to all of the wonderful vendors who brought this vision to life.
